HookIn2Hockey is designed for boys and girls aged 10 and under. Our program gives players the opportunity to learn the basic skills of hockey, develop fundamental motor skills and make friends, all while beginning their lifelong love of hockey!

where: Matlock Reserve. 15 Carinda Road Canterbury, Victoria 3126
when: Wednesdays from 5:30PM to 6:30PM
beginning: Wednesday 16th October
ending: Wednesday 4th December
suits: boys & girls aged 5 to 10 of any experience
cost: $85.00

Advanced Group Training
During this program we will be running an advanced group with coaches undertaking group training much like our under 10 & 12 teams complete during the winter season. To participate, register for HookIn2Hockey below. This is an excellent option for our 2019 Stick-2-Hockey players who will graduate to winter hockey next season.

You can register for the program now at Hockey Australia's portal

Coaches
Have you thought about beginning to coach hockey? Our HookIn2Hockey program invites our U14 & U16 players interested in getting a start in coaching to let us know. It’s easy to get started with guides and mentors provided and you’ll get a nice reference for your CV and a small payment for each week.

It’s not necessary to be a Camberwell member to play Summer Sixers. This is a perfect chance to bring a friend along, even if they’ve never played hockey before. Loaner sticks are available at the club.

The summer sixes program is on again this Spring. It will run on Saturday afternoons at Matlock Reserve, with “6-a-side” quarter field games using side boards, allowing players to bounce the ball off the boards – similar to indoor hockey.

There will be Under 10, Under 12 and Under 14 competitions. Games will commence at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm respectively – with multiple short format games each week.

Teams are mixed gender, and a mix of skill levels, with the aim of encouraging fun and competitive games, whilst allowing players to meet new people.

The program offers a great environment for current players to continue to develop skills, whilst also providing the opportunity for people to try out hockey for the first time - as the social format, and mixture of skills helps bring new players into the game.

The BBQ will be going, and the Canteen will be operating each week.

where: Matlock Reserve. 15 Carinda Road Canterbury, Victoria 3126
when: Saturdays from 2:00pm, 3:00pm or 4:00pm for 1 hour (This does not clash with majority of Indoor programs)
beginning: Saturday 19th October
ending: Saturday 7th December
suits: boys & girls aged 8 to 14 of any experience
cost: $85.00

Indoor Hockey is Back with Two Competitions

Indoor hockey for Camberwell Juniors is back for Term 4. A great way to play competitive Club hockey in the spring, indoor is a fun, fast and fabulous way to develop your hockey skills and keep in touch with your hockey friends over spring.

The Club is committed to developing and resourcing its indoor program from U11’s through to Women’s and Men’s teams competing at the highest levels. Hockey Victoria’s strategic commitment to indoor, its new player and coach development programs and the opening of a dedicated indoor court at the State Hockey Centre in 2020 provides players with a passion for the game the opportunity to enjoy playing indoor in to the future.

For girls Hockey Victoria is offering U13 and U15 Girls Only Shield competitions. These provide excellent opportunities for girls who have not played indoor before to give it a try; and for those who have previously played to move to an “all girls” competition.

Growing Indoor at Camberwell

With help from parents like you playing a part in running the indoor program, the Club would like to field Junior teams in mixed / girls U11, U13, U15 and U18 weekly Shield and Pennant competitions and U13, U15 and U18 girls and boys Club Championships.

To sustain and grow the indoor program at Camberwell we need the assistance of parents who are not already heavily contributing to the outdoor program. Please consider if you can devote a few hours of your time to ensuring your player has the opportunity to be part of indoor into the future.
 Opportunities to contribute include:

program coordination
co-ordination of teams in an age group
organising team bags
writing Newsletter content
topping up first aid kits
updating the Team Managers’ Manual to include 2019 season information
coaching
coach recruitment / development
team management
Club Championship organisation
umpire organisation / development
technical training (via HV)
liaison with Women’s and Men’s Sections

Selection for all regular teams

Selections will be made according to the Club’s Indoor Selection Policy. Teams can have no more than 10 players, but older age groups may be capped at 9. Ability and recognition of the skills required in different positions are key factors, but other attributes and considerations will be taken into account. We work hard to offer everyone who registers a place in a team but are, unfortunately, unable to guarantee a place for everyone who registers.

If not selected, then opportunities to play in a team that is “short” arise regularly in indoor (everyone is busy in Term 4 and some players withdraw). Team Managers will be provided with the contact details of anyone who is not selected.

Senior Transition

Our Men's and Women's sections each run terrific transition programs for our junior players graduating to seniors. If you are one of our top age junior players moving up please look out for an invitation from our seniors to participate in pre-season training and social activities.

Our senior sections are currently very strong with teams across all levels of competition and I'm sure our juniors will continue to enjoy their hockey there.
