Indoor Hockey is Back!

Looking for a game that's fast, skilful, competitive and action packed? Then indoor hockey is for you. Indoor is a great game played at national and international levels and allows players to develop skills and control applicable to field hockey.

The Club is looking to build on the success of its 2017 indoor program when over 100 players participated across 21 Junior and Senior teams. We expect to field boys and girls indoor sides in U11, U13, U15 and U18 age groups.

There are two options for players to choose from, Regular season and Club Championship Weekend

Regular Season

Comprises 7 or 8 games including finals for every team commencing mid October and finishing mid December. Match days have been chosen to avoid clashes with HV’s U15 and U18 Outdoor Academies. The cost per player is $140 plus a Hockey Victoria registration fee of $10.

  • U11 Mixed Shield MSAC - Saturdays from 13 October to 15 December

  • U13 Mixed Shield MSAC - Thursday nights from 25 October to 13 December

  • U15 Mixed Shield MSAC - Tuesday nights from 23 October to 11 December

  • U18 Mixed Shield MSAC - Monday nights from 22 October to 10 December

One Pennant team may additionally be fielded in each of the U11, U13 and U15 Age Groups if there is sufficient demand. These matches will be hosted at Dandenong. U11 matches are on Sundays mornings, U13 matches early Sunday afternoons and U15 matches late Sunday afternoons.

Club Championship Weekends

Comprises a strongly contested Club Championship of seven matches played over two days at Monash University, Clayton. Players registering are expected to be available to play all seven matches. The cost per player is $140 per player plus a Hockey Victoria registration fee of $10.

  • U13 Boys and Girls: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November

  • U15: Boys and Girls Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December

  • U18: Boys and Girls Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December

Indoor Development

Following the successful launch of the Term 3 Indoor Development Program, Hockey Victoria has launched further programs which will run in September and October. These programs are all specifically designed for players that will be trialling for the Under 13, Under 15 or Under 18 Indoor State Teams:

  • Indoor Goalkeeper Development Sessions

  • Indoor Match Play Sessions (for those trialling for the U15 or U18 Indoor State Teams)

  • Under 13 Indoor Hockey Skill Development Sessions

For further information and the links to register, please view the Hockey Victoria Site.

This is an opportunity not to be missed, with Steve Willer (current Men’s Australian Indoor Hockey Coach) and various other National Indoor Players coaching, the participants are sure to find these sessions very beneficial.

Registration, Payment and Selection

With a limited number of teams and spots available, player selection will be based on the Club’s Indoor selection policy. Payment will be required upon registration and refunds will be given if a player is not selected in a team.

So, don’t miss out and register now, if you want to play indoor hockey this season. Registrations are open for one week and close on 28th August at 5:00 PM. Teams will be announced by the end of August.
