Who We Are

Camberwell Hockey Club is a very successful family oriented and community based hockey club for all ages, gender and abilities. With over 1000 members we train (and play games) at our two home grounds – Matlock Reserve in Cantebury and Koonung Secondary College in Mont Albert North. We operate under a clear set of values summarized as follows: Supportive; Selfless; Respectful; Inclusive; and Relentless.

Amazing People

Our club’s success would not be achievable without the vast range of volunteers who give up their time and expertise to create the club we are today. Whether it’s players or parents putting their hand up to coach or manage one of our many teams, helping with umpiring, joining our committees, helping out on club clean up days, running the barbeque or baking goods on Club Days, or supporting our fundraising efforts, each volunteer contributes a vital role to ensure Camberwell Hockey Club’s continued success both on and off the field.

Total Inclusion

CHC is a community club for all ages, gender and abilities and have a proud history of supporting inclusivity within our club and the wider community. We were one of four pilot clubs for HV’s Fair Go, Sport! Initiative; a project aimed to increase awareness of sexual and gender diversity in hockey whilst promoting safe and inclusive environments. We are committed to supporting Women in Sport, continually looking at ways to increase participation of girls and women in hockey, seen in the awarding of the Sue Hounslow Cup for best Junior Girls Club in Victorian in 2016, and have programs in place to help players’ transition from juniors to seniors.

Unmatched Junior Program

Our junior program is unmatched in the hockey community. From our Hookin2Hockey programs and in-house U10 programs, summer sixes programs, and through to our 19 U10 through U16 winter teams, we provide a team for any ability player. Our push to increase girls’ participation in hockey has seen us providing at least 2 girls only teams for each age group and we aim to provide two coaches for each team from a combination of senior players and qualified parents. We also provide a transition program for players moving up to seniors and many of our juniors also play seniors when reaching U16 level.

Absolute, Unwavering Commitment to Success

At CHC we are continually striving towards excellence in all aspects relating to the club, Victorian Hockey and the Community – both on the field and off. We are a recognized leader in Victorian Hockey, not just for our on field performance perspective but for our innovation and active promotion of hockey in Victoria. We are continually looking for ways to improve our product offered not just for players and spectators, but for coaches, umpires and administrators as well.
